Minggu Taaruf

Minggu Ta’aruf Sesi 2013/2014

Alhamdulillah, it is that time of year again, where you have to leave your family to continue your jihad in the field of study. This year 2013, The Sultanate of Brunei has decided to send off approximately around 47 new students to Egypt.

Arrival

The first flight was safely arrived on the 21st of November 2013, followed by the second trip on the 22nd of November 2013, the third trip was on the 23rd Of November and the last trip was on the 4th of February 2014.

At the time of their arrival, almost all of the seniors continuously welcomed the new-comers with warm hugs and lovely greetings. A bus was provided to shelter the new comers to their new home.

By the time they reached Dar As-Salam building, a short briefing was given to them by Tuan Hj Daud about safety and few simple rules during their times here. He emphasized that students must follow all the commandments made by the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam.

Ice-breaking

In the evening, an ice-breaking session had been conducted by the Students’ Association Welfare to get to know more about the new comers and it was just another way of saying ‘Ahlan Wasahlan’ from the seniors to their juniors.

The occasion was opened up by a recitation of Ummul Kitab and a forum was organised by the Students’ Association Welfare which was aimed to raise awareness among students of the danger of cult, to step up our faith and not to be influenced by any of it.

It was indeed a very beneficial forum for youngsters especially for us whom would play important roles as leaders when we returned to our homeland.

Egyptian Arabic Class

During the Minggu Ta’aruf , there was an intensive learning of the local egyptian language held by the Students’ Association Welfare for the new-comers.

It was organised to enhance their language skills and communications and also to foster some basic knowledge into them.

The class was tutored by Ustaz Azrin, Ustaz Saifullah and Ustaz Shadi. At the end of the day, the new-comers managed to pick up some ‘Ammi vocabularies aiding them to communicate with the surroundings easily.

In addition, the seniors then taught them how to take a cab to the desired destinations and to avoid being cheated on. These measures were taken to show the significant of communication skills and being observant to the places.

Friendly Match

Later that evening, there was a friendly-match between the seniors and juniors. The new-comers were brought to Markaz As-syabab to play netball for the girls, whilst the boys played football on the other area.

Besides bringing closer the ukhwah to the line, the match was held to foster them with some healthy life-style. It was a fun night for everyone especially among the juniors, as it was the first game ever played ever since they set their foot in Egypt.

Closing Ceremony

On the 26th November 2013, a closing ceremony of  “Minggu-Ta’aruf” was held by the new-comers themselves. Before the event started, everyone worked as a team in preparing the meal for the event (known as Rewang). It was aimed to bring closer the ukhwah between the new-comers and to adapt them to the lifestyle here.

The ceremony was opened up by a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah by Muhammad ‘Ammar Fashan, followed by a lovely speech from Mohd. Afif as the Chairman of that event, thanking the seniors for all the guidance that was given to them. Not to forget, a welcoming speech by the guest of Honour that day, Ustaz Haji Mohammad Hisyam.

After that, there were honorary certificates presentation from the Chairman to the Guests of Honour.

To lighten up the event, a Tausyeh performance was also presented to the guests as an entertainment that night.

Before dinner was served, Doa Selamat was recited by Muhammad Izzat Izzudin which marked the end of the ceremony that day.
